Personal Development – Lesson Eight
If it’s worth doing, it’s worth continuing to doing well
This lesson brings into focus lessons two, four and six.
In these lessons, the student was asked to practice identifying all physical and social triggers they experienced that caused dysfunctional and negative thoughts, emotions and automated behaviors. Then the student would write these thoughts down in their notebook and use the dismissive indignance technique to power down the triggers and permanently remove them from their lives. As well, they were to take notes while observing people in the field when their dysfunctional and negative automated behaviors were triggered, then try to figure out where those might have originated.
This exercise asks that you gather all of the notebooks and other papers or digital devices where your subconscious triggers and outcomes were written.
ook over the material sequentially from the first week till today. See the volume of items and issues that you discovered and all those that you removed.
Take the time to grab some clean paper or on your computer wordprocessor and draw a line down the middle of the paper or document. On one side make a list of up to 10 triggered behaviors you discovered. On the other side of the page write down all of the triggers you were able to remove from your life.
On another page please write down the changes you have experienced as well as the positive comments you received from others about your personal development and growth.
Now, please fill out the survey and two worksheets again on the website. Do not look at previous versions so that the answers you provide are relevant to your mental, emotional, and physical state today.
Once you have finished the survey and worksheet, pull out the old copies and compare your answers. Notice how you’ve progressed over time.
Notice all of the incredible changes you made in just eight weeks.
Imagine who you’ll be in six months or two years from now.
More than likely you’ve exceeded your minimum expectations from when you first started this course.
More than likely you are far removed from the old version of you just eight weeks ago.
How profound it is to see and know how much we can improve the quality of lives in such a short period of time.
The great thing about all of this growth and personal development is YOU did it all. You did the heavy lifting changing your life and creating a much better self-image and version of you than perhaps you thought possible. There’s always reason to look forward.
You have some new skills, tools, and abilities to continue developing and enhancing your conscious awareness as well as modifying your subconscious programming. This will also allow you to keep redefining who and what you desire to be. Remember, nothing and no one gets to define you. There is no one experience or event in your past or future that defines you. Every day is about choices and options. It’s about calmly evaluating information and conditions to obtain the best options to get the outcomes you want.
As stated throughout this course, our thoughts determine how we respond to every experience and the outcomes we will have.
If we look at our automated behaviors as mental and emotional filters, we can more accurately assess which filters to remove, modify, or create that is in our best interest and supportive of meaningful interactions and relationships with others.
Restated from lesson seven, this course is meant to be used for the next few years. It is strongly recommended that you finish this course now, take a month break, then revisit it again.
You can see by now that your life has improved. You have experienced enhancements to the quality of your life because of the quality of your thoughts. You have also noticed changes and improvements to the quality of life in others you interact with due to your personal development. All the while discovering there is a whole universe of possibilities and potentials waiting for you to experience.
Now, safe and joyful sailing captain! Where will you go from here?
